Happy Monday
I wrote a huge ass post, then when I clicked publish I got a not found and then lost the post. I can’t remember much of what I said, because it’s Monday. Here are quick highlights:
1. Watched the Emmys last night. Boring. Glad to see the Sopranos won. Glad to see Arrested Development won.
2. Using the PIP function, I also watched Miami take it up the butt to Cincy. I think that team needs to be put out of it’s misery (Miami).
3. The Patriots game wins the ‘quick delete from the TiVo” award. It too was a snoozer, but at least the Pats won.
4. I continue to play Burnout. That game is frustratingly addictive. I’ve gone through about 30% of the game now. It’s not getting more challenging. Now it’s the old, you take the lead but never more than a second only to crash and now you’re 6th technique. Still a fun game, but now you really gotta be perfect to win. And wreck some more cars, which is always enjoyable.
5. I got EA’s NASCAR for the PS2. I forgot how ugly the PS2 was until I played this game.
* Political Rant *
6. In a new poll recently released, W now has a lead in my battleground state. I will tell you, I know for a fact I took part in this poll. The organization behind it did it for MSNBC, but they didn’t tell you it was MSNBC. The poll called me on Thursday at 6pm. They wanted to talk to the ‘oldest adult male’ in the household. I never pick up ‘out of area’ calls, but I was expecting a call so I did, and boy was I an idiot. The poll took almost 15 minutes to do, it was taking by someone who barely spoke English and I think by the time I was done, I ended up voting for Al Sharpton.
Anyway, if this is like any of the other polls, I can tell you that polling is totally useless because since I had no idea WTF the woman was saying, I just picked stuff out of my butt.
The media continues to believe polls. I look forward to them being wrong in a big way, like W. I liken it to Jay Leno syndrome. No one actually watches Leno as he’s boring and unfunny. Everyone watches Letterman. Except when the ratings come out, Leno wins, which totally boggles the mind. Kinda like Bush winning in polls. That being said, Kerry is on Letterman tonight, which is ironic given the statement I just made. Also, here’s a funny web site.
Over the weekend the House Speaker said that the terrorists want Kerry in office, which I thought was hysterical. Unfortunately, middle America is buying it. The irony, of course, is that if the terrorists do a pre-election attack, that would pretty much solidify Bush winning (ie “No f’n way I’m not voting for Bush now, etc”).
Of course, the Republicans continue to be scared big time. With the Michael Moore movie hitting mass release in the next 2 weeks on DVD, it’s really going to be interesting how it pans out. Still have a ways to go before the election……but hey, if Bush does win with a mass of the popular vote, I can certainly respect the wishes of America.

It would be the first time he won the popular vote (GW), so I guess I could respect that as well…Hmmmm…Actually I couldnt accept it, but I would have no other choice.

Why shouldn’t the media live by the polls. Clinton conducted his entire presidency based upon the polls.
Do you really believe that the terrorists wouldn’t prefer Kerry over Bush?! If I were a terrorist, I certainly would prefer the United Nations to decide my fate rather than a decisive leader.

Wow! What insight! Of course. Terrorists are threatening us because we have a decisive leader. That’s much better than having them target us because we have an indecisive leader.
Here’s the message Kerry can’t seem to get across. The US needs more troops from more allies in order to secure Iraq. Bush will not be able to get that help, because of the way he PERSONALLY offended those other countries.
John Kerry might be able to get those countries to help HIM clean up the mess Bush has made. Bush might be able to get those countries to help if he would admit that he had made one of the more tragic mistakes in world history. But he wants their help AND the credit for “liberating” Iraq.
The terrorsts do not give a crap who we elect. But the leaders from around the world do. They see Bush as a monumental fuck-up. Even if those leaders are wrong, and Bush is actually a hero, fighting the good fight for the good of the world, he still needs their help, and he won’t get it. Kerry just might get their help.
Now, blaming Bush for all of the mistakes after 9/11 is not really fair. Only an idiot doesn’t realize that the problem was the pair of Hawks that told Bush what to do and say, Cheney and Rumsfeld. But if Bush goes, they all go.

And President Bush will not be going anywhere. There were 10 years of UN resolutions that France, Germany, and Russia were perfectly willing to allow Saddam to flaunt. Now we need their approval? Their support? And let me get this straight, Kerry is going to get that from them? When has he ever been able to do that before? How would he do that? I suppose were just supposed to take his word for it? Something some of you fail to realize. Those nations would oppose us in practically anything we proposed on that matter of Terrorism and fighting it. Like the liberals in the country, they want to appease it. Fools. Ignoring the fact that radical Muslims throughout the world have waged on war on liberty and freedom is a mistake. Wake the hell up.
France and Germany were sitting back taking pay-offs from Saddam for years. Now they are going to make a difference in liberating the very people they were helping to keep oppressed? They can’t stand President Bush because he does’nt tolerate their socialist bull shit. Like it or not, most Americans don’t want a president who is going to be a lacky to France and Germany. And while I’m at it, Kerry and Democrats would do well to stop insulting all of the nations who are by our side as we speak. The arrogance at insulting nations like Italy and Australia (who have sacraficed their own lives liberating Iraq) is unbearable.

Here is what i do not understand. Why do we ohh so badly need troops from “allies” like france and germany (who sold iraq weapons and illegal equipment through third parties), when we are doing the work just fine with our current friends? why do democrats keep insisting that Mr. Bush did something wrong by not waiting for “permission” to invade iraq from countries who bennefited from sadamm hussein being in power. I belive that Mr. Bush is a very strong leader who, as leader of the greatest nation on earth, had every right to act independently.

First, I said Kerry MIGHT be able to deal with with the other countries.
Second, I don’t want us to be Germany and France’s lacky. But I also do not think they have to bow to our every command.
Without their help, Iraq is falling apart, and the Americans cannot seem to be able to stop that alone. Not only are more Iraqi’s dying now that we have liberated their country, more Americans are dying trying to liberate the country.
Last count, someone in the liberal press claimed that there are dozens of cities our troops cannot touch. Dozens. What the hell do you think is happening in those cities? The Insurgents are getting stronger, and the Coalition of the Willing is becoming less willing.
Now, I still believe that whoever wins in November will end up instituting the draft. Niether candidate will touch that topic. So without Europe’s help, the bodybags will be predominatly American.
Kerry may fail to get help from Europe, but the Bush adminstration will not get any. Feel free to act independent, but it’s going to cost many more American lives. Of course, this works for Cheney, as his old buddies in Haliburton will profit on that spilled American blood for years to come.
Kerry may not be the answer, but Bush IS the problem. If Kerry can’t clean it up, feel free to send in another Republican to do it. I’m sure we wouldn’t be in this kind of mess if McCain had beaten Bush in the primaries, and then Gore.

See, i knew we could be logical calm people instead of vehement radicals.
I also agree with you that France and Germany can do their own thing without us telling them what to do. Just like the United States can Try to convince like minded countries to join and they have every right to refuse. That is diplomacy they way it’s been for hundreds of years. And i’m just using them as examples because they are the biggest nations to not support us.
And i beg to differ that Iraq is falling apart. It has not been very long. Country (re)building is a long term commitment. i think we have to have more patience and step back and let the military and the iraqi people rebuild without the magnifying glass held over them.

The drift of the story is discernable. We are making progress. slowly perhaps. but surely. and death rates? well any mission into a country with a violent minority will take casualties. I believe that one of the main questions is; Does the mission and goals justify the deaths?? I think that it does. Many people will disagree with me on that question. That is their right and i respect that.
The only city that i recall and know of for sure is Fallujah. There may be other cities or villages where there may be no current forces there, but that doesn’t mean they are hostile.
As for a draft? HAHAHAHAHAH!!! sorry. but i really think that the draft and conscripts are gone for good in this country. At least for another 50 years while the vietnam generation is around. These are different times and different mindsets. And as long as the military is a solid job with benefits and incentives they will not have a problem filling their ranks. IMHO.
And because Americans comprimise 90 percent of the forces in Iraqi they will also take the brunt of the casualties. that is pure numbers/odds/statistics.
Oh and McCain? As a republican, i think he would have been a good president. no doubt about it. he would have beaten gore without a messy election. different president but would have been the same war and maybe the same problems. maybe. maybe not.
once again imho.
