Say It Ain’t So – EA Gets the NHL?
Let me preface this by saying I have seen absolutely no press releases, no gamesite articles, nothing to confirm this. But if you take a look at EA's NHL '06 page, underneath the title graphic it says the game has an "exclusive license." God I hope that's either an error or just deceptive marketing spin, because if my only choice for video hockey is NHL 2006 -given that NHL 2005 was pimple on the fat, sweaty ass of bad hockey games- then I'm done.

Well, 2K sports is still calling their new hockey game NHL2K6 according to their site. There is nothing on the NHL page about EA purchasing exclusivity of their license.
Man, I hope they don’t do this…I know they’re going to need some cash when things start going again, but this would be bad mojo.
On a hockey note, is anyone else excited about the upcoming FA when the league starts back up again? My Islanders for example will only have 3 players under contract…. Talk about a brand new team when things get going again.

They’ve now changed it from Exclusive to Official License.
EA sure knows how to piss all of us off, don’t they?

Glad to see it’s changed. I’m not sure if I should be relieved or worried, though. Certainly seems like someone screwed up. But did they screw up by just putting the wrong label on it or did they screw up by letting the cat of the bag early?

I think they just let the cat out of the bag earlier than they were supposed to. I don’t think we’ll see exclusivity this year, but next year, I’d say EA will have the only hockey game in town, which will be sad, due to the excellent gameplay of the 2k Series. The screens for the 360 version look very good, and I’m definitely waiting for it instead of just picking up the XBOX version, then the 360 version much like NBA2k6.

Why is it that 3days have gone by and this game is still not in stores? Well at least the usual ones. I’ve tried Game Stop, Best Buy, Target and Wall Mart. What is the hold up.
