Work List Update

As the Gamer’s Bible tome comes to a thankful close, I have updated my work list and current article list with some new stuff. My play list is a tad outdated. Due to the book my free time gaming has been nil of late.

Wiyh all of this stuff on my plate I’m going to pass my Gameshark Blitz review off to Dan. I doubt the EiC will mind because I know Dan has played the game quite a bit and I haven’t touched it yet. Dan doesn’t know this yet to keep it on the Q-T.

The good news, for me at least, is that we break ground on the new house at the end of November. We just had our final pre-construction meeting last week, which took 4 hours. That was as fun as getting your tooth yanked out. We have basic colors picked out: Thunder Cloud carpet (fancy way of saying dark grey), burnt siena roof (light brown), Burgandy trim (dark red) and the siding is some other non-color name that really means some form of tan.

I found a picture online of the basic model we are building. We wanted to add the brick exterior but it was like $6,000 extra.

This means that hopefully we move in at the end of March or the first of April. We’re having a house warming party, complete with 61 inch HD 360 gaming. Should be fun.

Looks like a nice house. What kind of siding are you getting? My current house has one of those wood adhesive sidings, and while it is one of the better ones, I have had some boards that need replacement (the house was built in 1986). Our first house was newer and had hardiplank siding which was great.

Of course, siding choice may matter more here in Georgia, with all the heat, moisture, termites and Bulldogs!

Good luck with the house. Nothing like replacing the stress of a book deadline with house construction!

wow, gorgeous house…nice that you can get it built for that cheap there…

having just purchased a house, i know one like that built here (Albany, NY) would be 250K.

And, are we all invited to the party?

Well, that price on that website does not include

    1) The Land
    2) The “extras” that are not part of the official house construction. So while the base model of the ‘Savannah’ is around 140K, the extra stuff like septic, utilities, extra dirt and/or block, construction insurance, temporary heat for a winter build, etc are not included in the house price. The extras usuauly end up being around 25-35K depending on need. Add that to the 140K and then add the land and it’s closer to the 250K range.

well aware of the cost of building….we looked at building our house before we bought….those “little” surcharges (especially within the house)….are insane. I like when they wanted to charge me thousands and thousands to wire the house with cat 5 cable….unreal. Congrats on the house…whats the square footage on that?

    2380 I think.
