Happy Thanksgiving

I hope everyone has a good day off and eats a lot of food and avoids that one relative that annoys the hell out of you. Don’t get into a fight. It’s not worth it.

I’ll be on the road most of the day, driving down to my folks place near Cincy and then back up to Cbus this afternoon. Tomorrow we go to Mary’s parents in Danville (out where the buses don’t run..this is serious country..not suburb country). So we’re eating two huge dinners in two days. Thank god I play basketball three nights a week.

I updated my work schedule as well as Dan’s latest article list; he just reviewed GTA on the PSP. I have lots on my plate (Thanksgiving humor) but after spending one night with College Hoops — I am one happy fella. I am really liking the game thus far. It’s an obvious improvement over 2K5 despite the fact that the player models look about the same. They made a lot of significant gameplay tweaks and added some very nice animations.

I’m playing on 14 minute halves on AC level and playing as Navy. I know, odd choice, but I used the Midshipmen in my 2K5 dynasty so I’m familiar with the team and I think it’s a good way to really get a feel for the changes by using the same school to start off. In 2K5, Navy wasn’t very good but I was still able to do well with them — this year, I have played three games with them and lost to Bucknell by 25, 13, and 19. Ouch.

Everyone is going to have their own settings for this one, but I did boost all of the foul settings a few clicks and also boosted the CPU 3 Point Tendency a few clicks. After doing so, Bucknell fired off anywhere from 14 to 22 3’s games, which is perfect.

So early returns are very favorable. Anyway, have a good holiday.

Yeah, the 3 point slider really works. I turned it up all the way to experiment and the AI team was taking lots of 3 point shots - many of them ill advised, including their center who kept clanging them off the rim.

My main area of concern appears to be end of game AI. In March Madness, the AI will put up a half court shot at the end of the half to beat the buzzer, but in this game the AI dribbles it out. And the one close game I had, i got a rebound and dribbled out the 3 seconds before the game ended - with a 2 point lead. It was unclear if the AI did not foul me because they could not get to me or because I was not in the bonus yet and fouling would probably be futile, but it has me nervous.

I saw the CPU team nail a half court shot to send a game into OT last night. So it’s not something that always happens. I wonder what circumstances trigger it?
