PS3 Delayed?
OMG, it's not true, is it? Well duh, of course it's true -- this article hints that the PS3 may be delayed between 6-12 months from it's "Spring 2006" release date.
Anyone else not shocked?

I would be shocked if they don’t release in time for Xmas this year.

Well, I’m not shocked that it may be late, and even miss Xmas in the US. But I AM shocked that Sony is dorking up the the PS3 so bad. Their adoption of Blu-ray for their console was really dumb. While Microsoft weathered the storm of not really being next gen, they gambled pretty well that Sony’s stance was going to cripple them, in both price, and now launch date. While the current spin I keep hearing is that everyone is just talking out of their ass in regards to what they know about the PS3, it sure does seem like the tech really is not ready for priimetime, in regards to development and price.
Nintendo on the other hand seems to have found a great strategy by emphisizing their strengths (great games and franchises) while producing a console that is going to be much cheaper, but still innovative. For the same reasons our household has an Xbox and Gamecube now, I expect we will have the 360 and Revolution eventually as well. People can call it a kiddie console all they want, but I have an eight-year-old daughter that expects to be able to play the next Mario, Zelda, and Harvest Moon games. These games are great enough, that I play them too. Well, not Harvest Moon, because the notion of a game in which you do chores is just crazy talk to me, but my wife seems to love it.
I think this a fairly common set-up as gamers have aged. But then economics comes into play. How can I consider the PS3, when it is starting to look like I can have both the 360 AND the Revolution for not much more than a PS3? Xbox Live has made the Xbox mandatory in our household, and the 360 has just upped the ante.
This is not all rocket science, and I am shocked to see that Sony has allowed itself to be outplayed so badly. They are losing marketshare before the console is even ready.
