Gamerscore was a great idea
I really enjoyed the MS GamerScore on the Xbox 360. It was a fun little indicator of your playing performance. Then GameSpot goes and publishes an article about how easy it is to get to a GamerScore of 6000 with the games lamest acheivements like “shoot a basket” and so forth. Now the 6,000 doesn’t seem like much of a big deal at all, especially if you like sports games.
Of course, since sports games are not that big of a genre outside of Madden, if you’re reading this, you’ll probably have a leg up on the competition. Personally I’m torn between filling my GameQ with NHL 2K6, College Hoops 2K6, and NBA 2K6 when I have heard middling reviews just to increase my gamerscore, and filling my Q with stuff I actually want to play like Burnout, The Outfit and others….
