What a Difference 3 Years Makes

Yesterday the Tigers won their 43rd game of the season. That’s the same number of games they won during all of the miserable 119-loss 2003 year. Here’s some numbers from the Detroit Free Press, comparing the two squads:

2003
Record: 43-119
Winning percentage: .265
Standings: 5th, 47 games out
Team ERA: 5.30

2006
Record (through June 15th): 43-24
Winning percentage: .641
Standings: 1st, 1 1/2 games up
Team ERA: 3.64

What an amazing first half of the season it’s been.

    It’s funny, but I’ve really been looking forward to the Brewers series with the Tigers. I think it’s because I’d like to mock Todd if the Brewers take the series.
