White and Nerdy

Well I had a meeting for lunch in the big city with other work types, I stopped by Best Buy and picked up the new Weird Al CD. I love his genre pieces and the polka song. Normally I would just get it over yahoo, but he did a DualDisc with 5.1 surround and hearing White and Nerdy that way rules.

I also picked up the Weird Al show and the Xbox Live Camera. Good news is that you get a free Xbox Live Arcade game — you don’t have to be stuck with Uno which is good if you already bought it. I purchased the LAST camera. I don’t know why I really got the camera. Maybe I can hook up with all the hot ladies.

I’m sure Al will be happy. As he said before the album came out:

“I am extremely grateful for your support, no matter which format you choose to legally obtain my music in, so you should do whatever makes the most sense for you personally. But since you ASKED… I actually do get significantly more money from CD sales, as opposed to downloads. This is the one thing about my renegotiated record contract that never made much sense to me. It costs the label NOTHING for somebody to download an album (no manufacturing costs, shipping, or really any overhead of any kind) and yet the artist (me) winds up making less from it. Go figure.”

And don’t forget to download “You’re Pitiful” for free off Al’s web site. It’s one of the best songs on the album, but was removed due to some bs from James Blunt’s record label even though Blunt himself had given permission.

Weird Al has always been pretty cool about not parodying a song unless he had permission from the artist and even paying royalties, when neither is required legally.

Thanks for the info. It was $13.99 for the DualDisc but the videos are worth it, if you’re a geek like me.
