I never thought myself to be a coffee snob, but maybe...

When I use my french press, I grind the beans immediately before i put them in...the fresh ground beans are very important. Some of the pods have been ground weeks ago...maybe months ago. There are some online places that sell pods, and they were a bit better (podhead.com, bettercoffee.com, etc)...but it still left a little to be desired for me.

But as far as ease and convenience run, the pod brewers are far and away the winner...

I belive my Keurig gets to 187 degrees. Based on taste, I think the Senseo brews hotter. Just my opinion -- no thermometer here.

Im not a big fan of these pod systems....theyre fast and easy, yes, but the coffee itself didnt do much for me. Coffee needs to be brewed at a high temperature for optimal taste (over 190 degrees, I hear), and most of these pod things only get to 170 or so....leaving the coffee flat and empty. Now, give me a french press, and Im golden....

Well you have to pay for the coffee, but I don't think it's unreasonable. 25 cups for $4.00 or so. But yes, they are doing this as a loss leader to get you to buy the coffee. But it's good coffee, Green Mountain, Starbucks, etc.

You can use any pod coffee that you pick up at the grocery store.
