Update

I was able to exchange my X360 to a brand new unit courtesy of Gamestop. Really hassle free and made me very happy to blow the $40 last year when I bought the console. They didn't offer me another warranty, so I guess I'll sign up for the Microsoft one. It seems like it's worth the $60 for two years.

New unit was built in May of this year, I kept my HDD so we just swapped those out and I ended up with a new controller since I returned everything but the media remote which they don't include anymore. I'm playing games and the turnaround time was much better than MS.. :)

  1. Good deal. I would have done the same thing if I had got my 360 from Gamestop/EB, but I grabbed one at Target and did not have that option. This will keep you from a long wait right around November when all the big games and dashboard update and everything else MS has planned happens.

  2. I called MS and explained to them my power supply fan was making noises and they told me my until was out of warranty two days ago and I could order a new one for $75. After a nice argument with the service reps. supervisor, I was basically told there was nothing they could do. I told her I would just take it back to Gamestop and put the money towards a PS3 (my bluff) and she told me, “sorry sir, there’s nothing we can do”.

Anyhow, I did get the extended warranty with Gamestop, so I call them (should have in the first place) and the manager tells me to bring in the ps and he’ll give me a brand new one. I’m happy.
