Congrats Cardinal Fans

If the Tigers had to lose, I can’t really pick a team from a better baseball city for them to lose to. Well, there’s always the Cubbies, but let’s deal in reality here. Anyway, forget the string of nonsensical errors and untimely gaffs. The Cards earned it. It’s just a shame it had to end with a whimper for the Tigers, but what they did this season and what it meant to fans that wondered if we’d ever see winning baseball in Detroit again… it was a special year. The best summation for this season can be found at The Detroit Tiger Weblog.

I know how Detroit feels, I was right there when the Cards steamrolled through the season in ‘04 and then fell flat once they got to the Series and got blanked by the Red Sox.

Alot of those young Tiger players will gain alot from this experience though. You could easily see that it was the Tigers first playoff action in a very long time, and for the Cards is was just another normal season playing deep into October.

Leyland’s a great manager, and a class guy, but wow was he dumb for not starting Rogers in game 5. If Rogers wins that game, anything can happen once your team is back at home where they can be more relaxed. LaRussa would have thrown a rookie in game 6, and Carpenter for game 7. If they would have taken it to game 7, all bets are off, Cy Young pitcher or not.
