Monday Blahs
Funny, I was also going to post something similar to what Bill said. My cable company only charges $14 a month for HBO though. LOL.
I have to say, Rome did tidy things up nicely, but the ending was kinda stupid and very historically inaccurate. Anyone who knows Roman history knows that the kid dies and Octavian makes a comment about there being “Too Many Caesars.” Of course, in real life, Pullo wasn’t the father either…but it seemed to be so realistic everywhere else.
I’m sad that the show is ending. You could have seen the origins of how the Sopranos started or something…that would have been great.
Like Bill said, with the end of the Sopranos and Entourage, I think it may be time to save the $14 a month and just enjoy the DVDs when they come out.
Speaking of shows, it seems we are in repeat hell tonight with the exception of 24. Who knew that dancing with the stars would kill all the other shows. I haven’t watched last week’s 24 but this year the show is getting old. I have a lot of catching up to do…I still need to watch last week’s Lost as well.
I hope you saw SNL’s Weekend Update and the Sanjaya singing. That was hysterical.
Gamewise, I submitted my MLB 07 The Show review over the weekend. Didn’t really play much else except for DDR trying to burn off those fat cells.

Well, if you want a history lesson about that era of Rome…the HBO show isn’t too good of a gauge. I loved the show, don’t get me wrong, but historical accuracy wasn’t the reason.
It’s just too hard to cram that many years of history into 22 epidoes and when you so that you really can’t stay true to history without blending shit together and ignoring other events entirely.

I didn’t think that Entourage was ending?

Really? There was no Farinas or Pullo? you’re shitting me.
I know what you are saying…but still…how can you omit the too many caesars thing…or et tu brute….
Entourage is not ending; the Sopranos is, what Bill said was $17 a month for a half hour show was a lot.
At least I think that’s what he meant.

Who the hell is Farinas?
No, I was referring to more basic stuff like the ommission of a lot of key figures in the House of Julii, and several crucial battles weren’t even hinted at. The way that Cicero and Brutus died is pure fiction (dunno why they’d change that, actually), and the entire timeline was screwy in many ways which I do kinda understand because there’s no other way to do it with just 22 shows.
It’s Hollywood over history, but to a much lesser degree than than a movie like Braveheart which is like 80% bullshit — but that’s ok. Still made for great TV.

Ahh… I didn’t think Entourage was ending.
My earlier comment was actually directed at the following comment from Dan: “with the end of the Sopranos and Entourage,”
I thought maybe I had missed something and HBO cancelled Entourage. Glad to know that’s not the case.
