Saturday Morning Updates

Yes it’s the Glen and Dan “buy Japanese baseball” show. Unlike Uncle Jerry, I got another game in. Glen also directed me to the fact you can install the game to the hard drive for faster loading times. I asked him how he translated this, and he told me it’s the big button that says “install” in English. Sometimes you miss the obvious, I guess. LOL.

I’m still finding the game hard, I was able to get a whopping 5 hits last night, but lost 7-0. The game is a challenge, but in a fun way, not in a this game sux way. Although I’m only playing exhibition and minigames, it’s the most fun I’ve had with the PS3.

The box scores are more in depth of any game I’ve played. Although I can’t really read them, they do a nice job of showing the at bats for each player. On one side they show an inning by inning summary…if I am reading it right, it also goes across so you can see it play by player as well. I’m probably not explaining it well, but it makes sense when you look at it. For example, I think I now know the Japanese symbols for “groundout” and to what base I did, so you’ll see 2nd base ground out as the summry…kinda neat. I don’t see the ab/h/r/rbi columns that we’re used to , but again, there is a language barrier here.

I’d like to thank Sony for going region free on the PS3. I also wish Konami would convert this to a US release. This would be a great game in America.

The region free thingy is the only thing that is inching me towards buying one in the UK - no more having to buy US consoles for MLB or NCAA games.

And it’s not like I’ll have any trouble finding them - stores over here have got them on sale at a low low price of £400 (just $800 to you).

Think I’ll hang on for the inevitable price drop.
