Trivia Answer
Looks like a few got this one — it is indeed Gamestar Championship Football on a multitude of platforms. The game made passing a chore — as leery mentioned, a pass play was whittled down to up,up,up,up,up,up,left, left, down for a post pattern. Not really fun.
Gamestar did make some other sports games for the c64, including a fun 2-on-2 basketball game. Good times!
Today’s trivia question is going to be a challenge. The subject is baseball. Name the first hand held baseball game which had a detachable wired remote control in order for player 2 to pitch. You don’t need the full name of the baseball game, but you do need the brand name. Good luck.

My brother and I had one of those old Mattel baseball handheld games - it was this big bulky white thing and you sat across from each other and player, spent way too many hours on it ’til he pulled the player 2 controller off

That Gamestar 2-on-2 game was fantastic. Basically it had about 10-15 hall of famers, but without the actual names. So you could select a player from among Larry Berg, Kareem Ugrin, Magic Lyndon, and Oscar Dunbar. Then you create a teammate to pair him up with. I spent many hours playing that game.
