I’ve got your Error Code 204038 right here
For the past two weeks, I keep getting error code 204038 when purchasing a game from the Wii shop. Nintendo support says to 'try again later, try turning off all wireless appliances and change the wireless channel from 6 to 11 or 1". I've done all that and still no dice.
Anyone else having problems, or as usual is it just me?

Actually I literally just bought my wii today. It worked fine at first I fired it up the first time downloaded an update which took awhile, and star fox64 as well and had no problems except it didnt go that fast. Now I think I’m getting the same error code as you. I’m hoping it is just nintendo because I bought my brand new wii today and got it working once so I’m pretty sure it’s not my router or system.

unplug the power from the back, let it sit for ten minutes, then plug it in and try again. This was the advice a Nintendo rep gave me in November at it has worked for me a few times.
