Wednesday notes

- Back to playing hockey tonight. From what the doctor had told me, I damaged the underside of my kneecap and that just takes forever to heal up. Considering I had to stop playing for over 5 weeks, I’m really ready to get out there and sieve it up tonight.

- I’m just about to cave and buy the 360 HD DVD player from Amazon. They’re giving you two free movies, in addition to the 5 freebies and King Kong. I’m just dying to own Serenity and V for Vendetta in HD. Grrr… damn you format wars!!!!

- So, I’m now a Blockbuster Gamepass or Gameplan or whatever member. I started it today by renting Stuntman for the 360. I was surprised at the selection at the location near my work, as they had the new Tiger Woods for the Wii, Stuntman, as well as Two Worlds for the 360. I think it’s for the best that it’s not in a ‘family’ neighborhood. I’ll probably have better luck getting newer games from them than Gamefly. Plus, I’ll have a game every day of the month. Works for me…so far…

$21.99/mo for one out? For $14/month more I get 4 out. And I always have one game also :).

Then again, Stuntman shipped for me Monday and I’m waiting. Still. LOL.

oh, also, welcome to the dark side, bitch.

You are cheating on blu ray. Blu ray is for teh losers who go to airports in MN who poop with wide stances.

Speaking of Blockbuster, I wonder how they’re feeling now that they went squarely into Blu-Ray’s camp about a month ago. Guess they won’t be renting any Paramount or Dreamworks films (sans Spielberg ones) on HD-DVD. I figure they will soon say they’ll rent both again…I also think Target will go that way as well.

You just nailed it Dan. I’ll have the game the day it comes out… and will always have a game. You’re in a much better place on the East Coast.

They had tons of Blu Ray signs up at the store I went to today.

I was paying $21 something to Gamefly and getting horrible service, so I just couldn’t stay.

I haven’t pulled the trigger on the HD DVD drive yet…. I’m just waiting for the right moment. Like the one where my wife won’t find out that I bought it.

Glen, if you don’t mind about 1080p, the Toshiba HD A2 player might be a good way to go as well. I’m pretty sure you still get the 8 free movies, plus it upscales existing DVD’s and as a standalone player, you can still use it if your 360 gets the RRoD. Cost wise, it’s not much more than the add on player. As I mentioned before though, it doesn’t output in 1080p, just 720p and 1080i.

  6. Dan Clarke Says:

I agree with Joe. That’s the player I bought. My 50″ Samsung DLP only goes to 1080i, and it’s not going anywhere, so I saved $100 by getting the HDA2.

Yes, the 360 HDDVD is cheaper, but based on their strong recall record, I’m guessing it’s only a matter of time before that gets some sort of retrofit. LOL

  7. Glen Says:

I think that’s the thing that’s really holding me back from picking up the 360 drive, I really want that 1080P capability for my next TV.
