NHL 2K8 Stat Pics
Posted in the forum. I know a lot of guys are digging NHL 08 but NHL 2K8 is feeding my hockey gaming hunger just fine.
So, for those keeping score at home, that’s:
NCAA 08: Already shelved
Madden 08: Shelved
Tiger Woods 08: Still playing online. Soon to be shelved
NHL 2K8: 20 games in and going strong.
NBA Live: I expect great (OK, good) things
NBA 2K8: The Cavs are the 18th best team ratings wise? *18*?

I assume that scoring goals is not an issue this year? In some past years, there was both a reliance on the one timer and it was hard to get games that were not 1-0 or 2-1.
I ask because I am not sold on NHL 08 after giving it some time. Something just doesn’t feel right - my goals feel more like luck than good plays or hard work. Maybe it is just me but it still feels a bit scripted, but EA hockey has always felt that way to me….
Maybe I should just rent and see how I feel.

I’ve played a number of games and have seen all types of goals. I’ve had a number of one-on-one goals (forehand and backhand), had a slapshot deflect in off a defenseman, and have seen a number of rebound goals — all of these for both me and the AI.
And I don’t know if there is in-game morale for goalies, but the last game I played, Biron was excellent for half the game, gave up one, and then another quick one, and then seemed to be diving all over the ice like he’d lost his cool, giving up two more in the process.

I am having so much fun with NHL 08 that I can’t bring myself to play any more NHL 2K8. Which is odd because I usually end up shelving EA Sports games fairly quickly. At least that has been the routine for several years now.

Pete, absoutely. I dunno if there is a built in momentum but when a player gets hot (or cold)..boy you can sure tell. It’s weird. I CANNOT get Nash to score. Fed has 7. Vyborny 6. I signed Lindross and he has 5. Nash? 1 goal on a rebound. The dude is ICE COLD.
I just love the variety of the game. Today for example I played the Kings and won 4-3. It was 4-3 mid way through the 2nd and I thought it was going to be a major goal fest. But no one else managed a goal for a period and a half.
ALL FOUR of my goals were on Powerplay. It was awesome.
