Dirty Disc SOB!
I am one of the very lucky few who have never had a problem with their Xbox 360. No red rings, no crashes, nothing. Well, I dunno if this is a system problem per say but I do hear from a lot of gamers about the dreaded dirty disc error. I haven’t seen much of this either but I simply cannot play NBA 2K8 without it crashing in the 3rd quarter. The sound cuts out (actually just the play by play) and then I get the dirty disc error after about 3 mins w/o sound.
For those that have seen this — what’s the alternative? Clean the disc? Get a new disc?
For the record, I am CRAZY in love with this game — NBA 2K8 is seriously, seriously good, but this disc shit is irksome to say the least.

When my first 360 was doing that it was only a matter of time until it completely failed. Start the death watch, my friend.

Oddly enough, if you take the game out of the machine so that the 360 starts up without a disk in and then you put it in and play it greatly reduces the dirty disk errors. I have the same issues with NHL 08. I usually sign in first before I put the game in, but that shouldn’t matter.

Back when I had NBA2K6, I had a dirty disk error. Returning the disc for another game fixed the problem.
And yes, NBA2K8 is an incredible game. Simply incredible.

Couldn’t you boil the Halo disc back in the OldBox days to reduce the dirty disc errors?
