I think its a but more than “life sucks”. This is “probably” the reason that so many of the players were sold at discount prices I.E. 99 dollars or more depending on the model. It is a bad business model, if Toshiba planned this promotion as a way to sell a shitload of units because the HD DVD format was going under.
Buying the unit was a gamble, but JC… this is a quick turn of events. Hell, im still waiting on my free HD DVDs. This is bogus!

I’m still waiting on my free movies too.
I’m not as pissed about HD DVD going under as others seem to be. I knew it was a gamble when I bought it (and I didn’t get the $99 deal, I paid $299 the week before on a model that does 1080p) and I knew that since I was buying HD that BD was probably going to win. I look at it like this – I did my part to end the format war in BD’s favor
