Riding the Pines - Episode 8

Dan and I didn’t have a ton of topics to cover this week, but with the upcoming MLB games and the Superbowl… we had plenty to talk about.

Feel free to talk about the show in the forums or in the comments here.

Enjoy!

Enjoyable show as always. Riding the Pines has become part of my Sunday evening routine (except in those instances when it’s released on Monday).

I completely agree with your MLB2K8 discussion and don’t understand why 2K would change the throwing mechanism from the face buttons. I may be wrong, but didn’t Brinkman work on the first MVP NCAA game, in which EA implemented these same throwing controls?

I’ll probably be getting The Show anyways, but it would be great to have a decent competitor. I’m also curious about Pro Yakkyu Spirits for the PS3, having owned it for the PS2. It was pretty great, but it was difficult to get it to run on my PS2. Thank you Sony for the PS3’s region free gaming!

I posted this in the forum, may as well repeat it here:

IGN has a preview of Major League Baseball 2K8, along with some videos, and much of it is the same updates from the January 18 Official Xbox Magazine podcast with lead developer Ben Brinkman. The pitching, throwing and hitting have new analog movements, for instance.

The problem to me, however, is that there’s no word about upgrades to the bad running and fielding AI. I don’t care if I have to move the right analog stick back then forward for a fastball, or if I have to time a throw to first perfectly. I just want the AI to throw to the right base or run to third on a grounder to the right side. That’s baseball, not pounding the “A” button to make someone run faster.

I don’t like Bill Simmons - I don’t like regionalized reporters on a national website.
