I’m talking about the Orioles have filed the required paperwork with MLB to put Baltimore on their road jerseys for the 2009 season! Yes!!!! Who cares about W-L when Baltimore is on the jerseys!!! AWESOME!! Click here!

Big Deals

Today’s Amazon Deal of the Day is MLB 2K8 for every platform for $29.99.

Also, today’s Wal-Mart circular shows you’ll get a $100 in store gift card if you buy the 40GB PS3, making the price $299. If it’s your first Sony card purchase, you may be able to combine to get the price (net) down to $199. Yes, you get a crappy SIXAXIS controller and no backward compat and no card slots, but hey, $199 for a PS3 net isn’t a bad price for a nice BD player as well :) .

If you buy online, you’ll get a WM gift card, but it can only be used online only, so I would avoid that. The WM deal is valid Sunday 6/1 to 6/7 only…

Two major things of note.

1. I’m in a hospital bed at the moment. I was admitted because of an infection due to my procedure. Quite a bit of pain at the moment. I’ll be here for at least a day.

2. I was informed that the feed and comments aren’t working. I’ll get tht resolved as soon as I can.

Talk to you all again soon.

Wow! It’s the NBA Finals everyone wanted. Well unless you’re a Detroit fan. LOL. Now that being said, I haven’t been a huge Celtics fan but I’ve been watching these playoff games for a while.

Anyone remember that Genesis game from 1990? Wow that game ruled. And here we are. Wow….it’s awesome.

- I can’t catch a break. This morning I woke up to shooting pains through my groin and find that the entry point for my procedure is infected. I’m on a run of Cipro and have a 101.5 temp at the moment. It’s just not fair. I just want the whole thing to be done, but it just keeps getting worse every time I think I’m getting better.

- Even with that, I’m hopeful that Dan and I can get a podcast in. As long as I’m just sitting in place, things don’t hurt nearly as much. Of course if you hear our podcast, I’m sure you’ll be feeling some pains.

- Didn’t see any comments from anyone on the Tecmo Bowl videos, so I’m wondering if I’m the only fan of the series here. The online component will be completely broken if you can modify any team so that every player is rated 100. Thankfully, I’m not a big online game player… and you’ll probably be able to avoid it if you play with a good community of friends. We’ll see if they alter it though.

- Quietly, which is the way it should be, the Brewers have won 3 of 4. I do have to say that yesterday’s game was one of the ugliest I’ve ever watched. 11 walks. Tavarez threw 31 pitches in the 9th and 23 of them were balls. That’s just plain nasty.

- Let’s give a shout out to Harvey Korman.  His performance in Blazing Saddles is one of my favorite comedy performances.  Thankfully HDNet has been running the movie for the last few days.  Catch it if you have the channel.  It’s just as funny as I remember it.

- Time for a nap. Hopefully the fever breaks soon.

Get Madden 09 Free

FIA Card Services, aka Bank of America is trying to get you to sign up for their NFL Extra Points Card with something rather enticing: Madden NFL 09 Free. Of course, being it Bank of America, there is a catch:

Ҥ To qualify for this offer, your new account must be used to make any combination of purchase or cash advance transactions (including balance transfers) totaling at least $200 within 90 days of the date the account is opened by FIA Card Services, N.A., (exclusive of transaction fees, if any). The account must remain open for 90 consecutive days from the date it is first opened. Limit one (1) item per new account. Supplies are limited. Allow 8-12 weeks for delivery after qualifying. Offer sponsored by Bank of America: we may substitute an item of equal or greater value and we are not responsible for lost, stolen or undelivered merchandise.

So yeah, spend $200 get the game free 8-12 weeks after qualifying. So if you say, just got screwed with the LL Bean Bank of America transfer, maybe you can switch it here. Click here for the details.

Weezer

One of my favorite bands is Weezer, and I have the Rock Band DLC to prove it :) . Anyhoo, they have a new video called Pork and Beans and if you know anything about You Tube, you’ll see all kinds of references. Oh and the song is pretty good too. Check it out here.

- The Tecmo Bowl screen shots look pretty cool, in my estimation… but wait until you see the movies.  I’m hoping to be able to post them later today.  If you’re a Tecmo geek, like I am, you’ll be very happy when you see them.  The roster customization looks like it’s a piece of cake, and you’re able to alter just about everything, from players, to the pants that the team wears.  Pretty cool stuff.

The DS version is due out in September.  Can’t wait.

Also, Tecmo mentioned today that they’re working on a Wii version of the game.  Hopefully it’s a full Wii version and not WiiWare, but I’d take either at this point.

I’m such a Tecmo sports geek that I even went out and found the Genesis version of Tecmo Super Hockey… yeah… I’m that guy.

- Man, am I going to have to try to go to Target again to pick up some cards for Dan?  Sometimes deals don’t work for me either.  I just got lucky with this one.

1. Kotaku has screenshots of Tecmo Bowl for the DS. Looks like the VC version. Right down to the silly touchdown picture. LOL.

2. Yes, I know Seattle was already announced as an MLS team. The 360 thing part is new. And not many people outside of Seattle knew about them having an MLS team so it was worth repeating.

3. You know what I hate? I hate it when people post in forums how they got the deal of the century and then I go and try to get same deal and it doesn’t happen. For me, there was no dice on the 1600 MS Points for $4.99 deal. Target scanned the bar code coupon and it said right on the screen that my merchandise doesn’t qualify and they weren’t going to override it. Grrr. OTOH, if you are buying a 360 game, it will work but I wasn’t.

- Brewers have won 3 in a row… and have scored a grand total of 8 runs in those three games.  Gotta wonder when the bats will finally start coming alive.

- An absolutely terrific game 3 in the Stanley Cup finals tonight.  Pittsburgh really came out with a ton of intensity and took it to Detroit for the first time in the series.  The Red Wings played a very good game, but the Pens were just a bit better tonight.  Can’t wait for game 4.

- I was checking the status of Don King Prizefighter for the Wii and noticed that the game has been bumped until September.  That’s a bummer.  I was really looking forward to seeing how the game uses the Wii Balance Board.  I guess we’ll see later this year.

- Speaking of Don King Prizefighter, I got a press release from 2K Sports today that indicates that they have launched Hypekingdom.com, a website where you can find out the kind of nick name Don King would use to help hype you as a boxer.  Take it from Glen “Hop Scotch” Haag, it’s worth checking out just to see what your fighting nickname would be.

Great news if you’re an MLS fan as they’ve announced their latest expansion for the 2009 Season. The Seattle Sounders FC will be based in Seattle and they already have their sponsor: Microsoft. Their kit (jersey) will have Xbox 360 on the front. Very cool and classy looking. Nice green too. Wonder if Peter Moore is bummed.

MS will be a sponsor of MLS at every venue as well. Too bad the ‘tards at EA that give MLS short shrift have the exclusive. Christ, even MLS Extra Time had better rosters.

Orioles Magic Returns

Wow. Last night’s Orioles – Yankees game shows the return of Orioles magic. Down 4-0 and then 8-4, and then 9-8 in the 11th, the Orioles win 10-9! Yes, it’s time for the Orioles Magic video! Magic! Magic! Magic! Magic! Magic!

Wow, I never remember Rick Dempsey being that huge in 1983. I mean musclar, not fat. I always thought of him as the scrawny guy.

The Political Rant

Well, we have some interesting news. The former Bush press secretary, Scott McClellan, has written a book about the White House and it isn’t pretty. Specifically, the President is a guy who doesn’t admit mistakes and is in constant campaign mode. Seriously, from an economic point of view, I don’t think you could possibly find a guy that’s more out of touch. Well, maybe Daddy. It’s so funny because in 1991 and now, the economy sucked, but in addition to the economy sucking, inflation is terrible, prices are out of control and our esteemed leader doesn’t seem to care. Well unless it has to do with the death tax, which will apparently fix everything. Okay. I’ll stop right here. Click here for the MSNBC article.

- Big relapse today.  Very, very sore.  I won’t go into the details, but this day could have gone much better.  If the pain continues, I’ll be going back in to see the doctor tomorrow.

- Brewers managed to win another game in their last at bat.  I believe that is their 12th already this season.  Tavarez pitched a 1-2-3 8th, and recently benched 3rd baseman, Bill Hall scored the winning run in the bottom of the 9th.  A win is a win….

- Dan sent me the demo for Dr. Mario… and then we found that we couldn’t connect to play an online match.  It’s a good thing that no one expects much from Nintendo’s online service, because it’s pretty bad at times.

- Picked up a few of the $5-360 point cards at Target today, thanks to the coupon that they have over at CheapAssGamer.com.  Now, I just need a functioning 360 to buy some things with them.

- MLB08: The Show for the PS3 is $49.99 at Amazon.  If you’ve been holding off for a bit, it’s nice to see a price drop, even if it’s only a temporary one.  It’s a fun baseball game to hold you over until Power Pros 08 comes out.

- I know it’s silly of me, but I’ve picked up 10 HD DVD’s in the last 2 days.  Inetvideo.com has been selling them at $5.99 a piece (about $2 shipping for each as well.)  I picked up some fun action flicks and comedies for a good price.  I have 2 HD DVD players, might as well keep getting movies while I can.
