EA Post of the Day : Looks to Wii for Sports

You’ve got to read this lovely press release about EA adding more “stupid” features for the Wii versions of games. I think this quote says it all:
“While versions for Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and Sony Corp’s (6758.T) PlayStation 3 will be similar to previous years, the “All-Play” titles will have options to use simpler controls and quicker games.”

So there you have it. All EA sports games for the 360 and PS3 are like last years. Don’t bother with them. But on the Wii you can shove the Wii-mote up your butt for a better game playing experience! How exciting!

This company is driving me freaking crazy.

What’s wrong with having simpler sports games for the Wii? Not everyone wants to have to press 19 buttons presnap, and good luck getting a younger kid into a sports game when they can’t figure out how to throw the dang ball. You don’t have to play them if you don’t want to. It hurts nothing to have them.

Why make a complicated sports game when you can make something super simple with dumbed down graphics, and not even an intent of it being realistic? It’s way cheaper for EA that way. Perfect types of games for their “line-worker” programmers. They have about as much passion for the product as an assembly line making cars.

And if you don’t like it? There’s no alternatives so you’re screwed.
