Monday thoughts (Guess who’s back?)
I had a great weekend. Let me just tell you that you haven’t lived until you’ve fished during a snowstorm on a lake. I don’t think I’ve ever felt colder in my entire life, but I was still having a great time. Only ended up catching 4 fish over the weekend, but redeemed myself by catching a ‘keeper’ walleye on the last time out on the lake. A good time was had by all.
- Picked up Lost Winds via Wii Ware when I got home. I played it for about 20 minutes and it’s a pretty fun little platformer. Very intuitive controls once you play it for a few minutes.
I’m debating picking up another game, but damn… just looking at my Wii channel list, there are like 15 to 20 VC games there that I haven’t touched. Ouch.
- I’m also grabbing the GRID and Bourne demos off of PSN, and will be picking up Echochrome later in the week. The one cool thing about Echochrome is the fact that people can upload their own created levels and Sony reviews them and picks the best and lets you download them for free, so we basically have unlimited levels for the game for 10 bucks. The only bummer is that they pick new titles each week. Not a huge deal, but it will keep people coming back to the game.
- Just about when I write the Brewers off, they win 3 of 4. Gotta keep the emotions in check.
- A few sports games for the Wii are being released this week, Deca Sports and We Ski. I haven’t heard good things about We Ski, but it is the first title to support the balance board (which my wife is totally geeked up about. She asks me about it at least once a week to make sure that I’m picking it up for us.) Deca Sports is yet another mini-game collection, but it’s entirely sports based, so it could be something worth looking at.
Also of note, Baseball Mogul 2009 is coming out for the PC at retail tomorrow… for those of you that don’t like the digital download option.

When I was younger, we were having xmas at our lake house in Central Texas. On xmas eve day, it was 30 degrees and freezing rain. I took the boat out and anchored on top of the old river bed at the deepest part of the lake and started jigging a slab spoon. It was so cold that I was completely bundled up and had the index finger cut out of my right glove to feel the line. I pulled in 40 hybrid striped bass weighing an average of 5-6 poounds each in about 90 minutes. They were stacked on the bottom like firewood. Some of the best fishing I ever had even though I was miserable out.
