Friday night notes
- If there were any people doubting whether the Brewers made the right move dealing for CC Sabathia, I'm guessing those people are keeping their mouths shut at the moment. CC had dominating stuff tonight, holding the Giants to 1 run and 4 hits in a complete game effort. It took the Brewers a few innings to get going, but they ended up putting 9 runs on the board, including 2-3 run home runs. Definitely a fun game to watch as a Brewers fan.
There is also something entertaining about hearing, "Let's go Brewers" at a visiting stadium. Gotta love that.
- Dr. Horrible has it's final Act available at www.drhorrible.com. I have to give Joss Whedon his due. Just when you think you know where he's going with a story, he takes you in a different direction. I guess that's why I'm such a fan of his work.
- Take a look at the comments feed this week. We've had a lot of good back and forth this week... even some from Cubs fans... grrr.
- Dan and I are hoping to get a podcast in tomorrow. We have PLENTY to talk about.

If CC Sabathia = Rick Sutcliffe and Laporta = Joe Carter and the Brewers don’t make the playoffs, then the Brewers def made a mistake IMO. Especially since the Cubs got Harden for so much less and he’s not a FA at year end.

I think it goes without saying that if the Brewers don’t make the playoffs then the deal didn’t work out for them.
Honestly though, the Brewers minor league system is incredibly deep at this point. They had 10 AA all stars this year. Laporta could only play left field or 1st base. Braun is locked up for 7 years in left, and Fielder is the first baseman for the next 3. They had to figure out a way to deal him and to acquire a #1 starter for him and a few other prospects is a great deal for the Brewers.
I agree that the Cubs got a good deal in getting Harden, but he’s an injury prone pitcher who has only pitched in 30 games over the past 3 seasons.
I wouldn’t be shocked to see the Brewers add another reliever for the run to the playoffs as well.
Brewers fans just have to be happy that we have an owner that is willing to do everything he can to make a run for the playoffs.
