Quickies

1. If you haven’t heard the podcast yet, you’re missing out on some good material.

2. One of the “good Materials” is a discussion about We Love Golf. Basically, you can file it under disappointment…if you figure out the controls you might like it more, but this is a case of why F up something like a golf swing on the Wii. It makes no sense.

3. Not sure about Glen’s Forza loading times…..whateva. How you can complain about that game when compared to say, NASCAR 09 is beyond me. Grid is pretty good though :).

4. Glen and I will be on a conference call Thursday regarding MLB Power Pros. Ask your questions in this thread.

5. Interesting discussion about NCAA. I actually posted on Mr. Moore’s blog because we’re told he reads all the comments (heh). While the posters are right that the actual ‘action’ play of NCAA is a lot of fun, I’m sorry, but you cannot defend putting things that are flat out broken in the game. They should not have been in the game if they are broken, especially if the community is excited about upload/download rosters and online leagues. Yes, the single player is fun, but we were promised customizable, downloadable rosters and online dynasties, neither of which work, and it was released seemingly knowing that was the case. If you buy a Nintendo DS but there’s no stylus, sure the console works, but good luck playing games…the EA Fanboys would say ’so what, enjoy the game, PS PETER MOORE RULEZ”…or something like that :).

I’m going to say I doubt he will respond to your comment considering how hostile it is…heh. Maybe if you had worded it a bit better you might have a higher chance of getting a response. Ending the comment with “I look forward to hearing your remarks, but I doubt we’ll get anything except more marketing drivel” is not a good start to getting a response.

There are problems with the game that affect us as simulation/dynasty (including online dynasty) heavy players. What I am trying to point out is that the mainstream players (the majority buyers of this game) really don’t give a damn about this stuff or very little about it (you could make a case with online dynasty being FUBARed for instance). With that in mind, NCAA 09 is a better game than 08. In regards to rosters, I haven’t read the latest today in the different forums, but the patch is coming at some point this week. It’s also hard to understand whether it is an inherent game fault or a fault with pastapadre’s roster file that most roster makers started using as a baseline for theirs.

Anyway, I know I’ll never win this debate, so I won’t continue. It’s a nasty cycle every year, it snowballs in almost every sports game including the “paragons” of the genre like NFL 2K5.

One thing I will say about this year is that EA’s staff is actually responding to stuff, something we haven’t seen much of before. Whether that brings about fixes or not is a totally different subject.

And there’s always Gamefly, that saves you $60 right there (for the previous post on this). We’ve played these games for years on end, we should know by now to rent before buying…

dt linders 360 roster works great for what it’s worth - no issues whatsoeve
ea locker under ‘earotsers com’ (no dot)

    patch is to microsoft/sony

15 guys working on online dynasty problem per adam from ncaa team

not to totally absolve ea but at least 1. the developers haven’t disappeared from the forums - in the past, they would show up to pimp the product and disappear once problems arose (brinkman, the guy from hardball, etc) 2. not only are they still on the forums, they are sending feedback regarding the problems to the patch teams

what i’m seeing on the os boards is unprecedented in console sports games

  3. Loren Says:

Yeah, I won’t touch Linder’s roster with a 10-foot pole. He doesn’t have a good history with the OS crowd. I’d rather wait for Fairdale or pastapadre’s updated fixed rosters. However, have people tested the roster enough to be for sure it doesn’t lock stuff up (which is evidently what is happening)?

And yes, it is unprecedented, but I’m sure everyone is expecting to see results as well.

According to Adam from EA on OS they think they’ve figured out the Online Dynasty problem related to hijacked dynasties and the changing of such things as scores and wins-losses. They think it is server side and will not need a patch to fix. They are running some tests with pastapadre’s dynasty supposedly along with some OS users and if that works they’ll do a server-side EA Locker wipe on all users and that will hopefully fix the problem.

They also announced that the 2nd patch (first one is for rosters currently in Sony/Microsoft’s hands) should be coming 2 weeks earlier, but they have yet to announce what fixes are in it nor when the actual date was before the 2 week push up.
