Early Sunday morning thoughts
- Ok. I'm really trying to like Madden... really trying.
Can someone who has the game tell me why passes to the sideline cannot be thrown anywhere near as hard as the passes over the middle. I'm rifling shots over the middle, but every pass near the sidelines is a pop fly that every DB can get to.
Besides that, the CPU throws way too many picks.... CPU controlled defenders get juked out of their pants by any move by the computer... and the center of the field seems to be almost undefendable against the pass.
Oh, well... I'm going to keep at it... I just don't want to think that I'm not giving the game a chance to surprise me.
- I played through the Tiger Woods demo earlier today... and it's pretty much exactly what I remember from when I played Tiger Woods 07... except with a Golf Coach segment now.
- The NHL2K9 demo was a good amount of fun though. The controls don't seem overly busy and I didn't see any traces of "Super Goalies" in the 3 games that I played. Each game had legitimate scoring opportunities where a player hit the post, or put it away.
My daughter heard me mention the Zamboni driving mini-game and would not stop talking about it for the rest of the day. I'm going to be hard pressed to keep her away from it. (Not that I can complain about that.)
- Went for an 18 mile bike ride with my wife and kids today as well. I pulled the Burley with the kids and even though it was a trail ride, I was pretty wiped out after that. I haven't done a ride that long in 5 years... and it showed. Still, it was fun and it was good to get outside with the whole family.
- The Brewers managed to break their mini-losing streak tonight... despite some odd decisions and poor fielding in the 9th, winning 4-3 in the 10th. I'm just happy they picked up a game on the Cubs. 4 1/2... is still a lot of ground to cover though.
- The Packers on the other hand looked awful tonight. Dropped passes everywhere. I will really be shocked if they don't look at a veteran QB to back up Rodgers soon... the young kids just don't look ready for the NFL.
- Phelps won his 8th tonight... Last nights race was still one of the most amazing I've seen. Pulling off a .01 second win... when you're behind with 5 meters to go... is just nuts.
Time for bed.

“odd decisions”
Thats a relative term when your refering to Yost….meaning most of his moves fall into that catagory making then more common place than odd. I found the move last Thursday of putting someone names Laynce Nix in the lineup being somewhat “odd”…no so much playing him but putting a lifetime .230 hitter with no power in the 3 hole was even strange by Yost’s standards. Yost might be the best thing the Cubbies have going for them.

Glenn. Not sure what your profile is like or how you set your game up.
But please please please delete your profile or start anew. DO NOT take the freakin test and use custom sliders play on pro level and set sliders accordingly and enjoy a much much better fantastic version of madden.
Your welcome

The beat goes on in Milwaukee. Yost leaves Sabathia in to throw a 20 pitch 9th with the Brewers up by 7. A nice 130 pitch outing…Yost is sure trying to get everything he can get from this rent-a-player. Wonder what he’ll have left in the playoffs. This has all the makings of being another Zito like situation….a potential big buck contract with a matching potentially thrashed arm. Good job, Ned.
