Well, in something to me that’s nothing short of shocking, McCain has jumped up big time in the polls. Especially among white women. I’m sorry, are white women in this country voting for Sarah Palin just because she’s a woman? That didn’t work out so well for Hillary. Or Geraldine Ferraro for that matter. I just don’t understand how you vote for a woman (or man for that matter) on gender or race.

That being said, it looks like McCain’s gamble is paying off. Much to my chagrin.

There’s always a big bounce right after the convention. Obama’s didn’t last as long because as soon as the Dem convention was over, the Republican one started and I’m sure the announcement of Palin as the VP didn’t help either.

The Democrats need to ignore the polls and focus on fighting on every possible front. Otherwise it’ll be 2000 and 2004 all over again.

Obama leading 94-1 among black voters
    McCain 53-41 among white women

It’s not really surprising that most people vote for someone they can relate to, but since polls earlier in the year showed McCain heavily favored over Hilary among white women, apparently they wont vote for just any woman.
