Early Thursday morning notes

Not sure if I'll have time to post later today or tonight, as I'm just finishing up my Wednesday at work (at 3:45 in the morning on Thursday.)

- Brewers somehow manage to push 4 runs across on two hits and get CC another win.  That guy just impresses the hell out of me.  I know that they can't afford him, but damnit if he isn't inspiring this team right now with his efforts on short rest.

Gallardo comes back to pitch today after tearing his MCL earlier in the year.  That's another tough guy.

They're tied for the wild card with the Mets (after they're horrible performance tonight,) so the money I spent on the post season tickets may not have been wasted... yet.  (I know I get a refund if they don't make it... but still.)

- You go, John!  Cancel your campaigning, cancel your gig on Letterman, cancel the debates... you have to get right to Washington.... but first, let's spend some time with Katie Couric.  Very presidential.

- As a Packer fan, I have to say that I'm sad about the firing of Matt Millen yesterday.  He had virtually guaranteed two wins for the Packers each year, for the last 6 years.  Such a pity that he had to leave so soon.

  1. You preach it, brother. What I want my future presidents doing during in a once-in-a-century economic crisis is spending 3 days preparing for a foreign policy debate. Lucky for us we still have a horse in this race.

  2. HAHAHA.

Hey, according to your guy, there’s nothing wrong with the economy…..

  3. I received this from my brother:

McCain has the worst voting record in the Senate, and in second place on that list is Senator Tim Johnson that hasn’t been able to sit in on votes because HE HAD A BRAIN HEMORRHAGE.

Let me be clear on this: A man who is basically one step away from being a vegetable has a better attendance and voting record than John McCain.

And now he wants to step up and actually do his job?

Now that is leadership. Go get ‘em John!

  4. If McCain is so concerned about this economic crisis and wants to suspend his campaign (*cough* POLITICAL STUNT *cough*), maybe he should go ahead and go back to Washington and let his Vice Presidential candidate take over the campaign for awhile.

Oh that’s right, his Vice Presidential candidate isn’t allowed to talk to the press because she’s an unprepared simpleton.

    Check and mate.

  5. I don’t have a guy, so HAHAHAHA. I just like to pick on Obama supporters because they’re snarky and condescending (and in some cases-madtowner11-just outright assholes). And how did “fundamentals are strong” turn into “nothing’s wrong”? It’s OK to be condescending sometimes, but not when your own reading comprehension is abysmal.

And in third place is Obama, with about the same percentage as the vegetable. Oops. And then you have to figure in how many times Obama voted, but conveniently pushed the wrong button on a controversial issue. Or voted “Present”. LOL. You make this so easy, Dan.

I find it hilarious that Harry Reid was trying to pull a political stunt by demanding on Tues. that McCain come help, assuming that he wouldn’t, and that they could make political hay out of it. Then McCain called his bluff, and Reid tries to play it like McCain is the one out of line. And of course all the little sycophantic (D) bitches follow his lead.

Speaking of unprepared simpletons, the Biden gaffe machine has been cranking out at least one every day. Maybe they should take a cue from the McCain campaign and just put a muzzle on him. After all, how can he make up for Mr. Lightweight at the top of the ticket if he keeps making a fool of himself?

    Cheap shots, backfiring.

  6. Kneel mentioned the word “condescending” when it comes to Obama supporters…

I think his mental midget ramblings have helped me understand a bit why conservatards always view liberals as “elitist”. I mean, sure, liberals are pretty high and mighty what with their fancy book learnin’ and college edumications, but science, logic, and wisdom aren’t what make liberals superior to conservatives.

No, what makes me know I’m superior actually has nothing to do with my own cognitive abilities: It’s the fact that mouth breathing, knuckle dragging, right wingers like Kneel are simply so inferior.

    Yours in Christ,
    The Outright Asshole Madtowner11

  7. Who else is looking forward to Nov. 5th?

  8. Hell, I’m just happy I posted last night.

I wish I would have remembered popcorn this morning.

  9. Who else is looking forward to Nov. 5th?

November 5th… November 5th… uhhh, Gears of War 2 release date?

  10. I don’t have a guy, so HAHAHAHA. I just like to pick on Obama supporters because they’re snarky and condescending

I don’t blame you. If I were a republican I wouldn’t have a guy, or girl (in the case of the moose-hunting moron) either.

  11. No, no, no. Kneel is a “Libertarian”! Yeah, that’s the ticket.

He’s fervently anti-Democratic party (or “Democrat Party” as he is probably wont to say) and has recently spoken up in Bush’s defense, but no way is he a Republican.

“Libertarian” means never having to admit you’re Republican. And after 8 years of Bush’s failures, 6 years of Republican Congress’ failures, and 2 recent years of Republican obstructions in Congress, I wouldn’t want to admit I’m Republican, either. But keep bashing those Dems, Kneel! They couldn’t possibly be any better than those stellar Republicans, so be sure and bash them every chance you get! And when your arguments fail the logic test and you come to the embarrassing realization that you’re actually an idiot, be sure and call the other side elitist and “condescending” to take the heat off of your own inadequacies.

p.s. You started it by calling me names.

  12. Like I said, I have never once voted for a Republican for president or supported their candidacy in any way. For one, I’m a big fan of the First Amendment, and McCain isn’t.

You are truly a sad little person. Keep on fighting those imaginary Rethuglicans in your head.

  13. Too entertaining Neil. You never cease to amaze me.

I’ll never understand why being smart is a bad thing in the Republican book, because that’s what they try to make “elite” seem to be.

Apparently, putting yourself through Harvard is much worse than being a legacy at a military academy.

  14. Well, you’d have to ask a Republican about that. As something of a smart person myself, who thinks that civilization has been built on the shoulders of a handful of smart people, I think they’re alright.

On the other hand, smart people and wanna-be smart people who feel entitled by their brains or their education to tell me how to live my life and spend my money–Republican or Democrat–because they think they have all the answers can go jump off a bridge. It’s that smug attitude and know-it-all fanboyism from people like madtowner that turns me off the Democratic Party. It’s especially galling with people who think they’re smart but are actually just intellectual midgets parroting what they’ve read and heard. They typically don’t even having a full grasp of what they are saying or the intellectual curiosity to research opposing viewpoints, much less consider accepting them if they make sense. You try to reason with these people, and they can’t do it. They just get angry and try to fall back on some “Oh yeah, but what about the fact that Republicans suck?” blather. Again, I can tolerate this kind of stupidity as long as it’s not coming from people who morally justified in taking my money.

Nothing’s wrong with putting yourself through Harvard. If you’ve spent your whole life as a politician or in academia, I’d probably be concerned that about you being out of touch with how normal people live, but a good education is a useful and commendable thing.

  15. I liked the arguing better.
