Tuesday night notes

- I picked up Fable II as well as Fable: The Lost Chapters for the Xbox today.  I figured if I enjoyed the early parts of Fable II, that I would probably want to take a look at the original as well.  For $10, where can I go wrong?

After playing through the first hour or so of Fable II, I was surprised at the direction that the story took so quickly.  I won't spoil it for those of you that haven't started playing it yet, but it was definitely not what I expected when I started playing the game.

Also, I love the dog that becomes your pet in the game.  It seemed like a gimmick to me when I heard about it, but I found myself wanting to take care of it and watch over it as soon as it became my companion.  I guess I'm just an old softie.

- A review of Blitz II: The League should be coming your way later this week as well.  I'm nearing the finish of the campaign mode and should be finishing that soon.  I'd hate to go through the effort of writing up a review for a game before I finish playing it.... not that I'd accuse any sites of doing that... (cough... IGN)

- Maybe it's just me... but I've had a hard time getting excited about the baseball playoffs after the Brewers were knocked out in the NLDS.  You kind of throw all of your fandom behind one team... and after they're eliminated it's hard to keep interested.  Having said all that, 'Go Rays!'

- Oh, yeah Dan... like you've never tried to talk me into buying games.  All I did was mention that Haze was $10 and that it had online co-op.   Heh.

  1. Agree with you on Fable II. Just got into this morning before work and am really excited about the game. Battling is too easy, but I’m just going to ignore that and try to immerse myself in Albion and enjoy the story and ride.

  2. Battling got really difficult for me when the balverines started… then the Crucible.

  3. I definitely have not gotten that far, but I’m looking forward to it!

Question for anyone who knows….I thought that when you purchased a home\shop\stall\etc that even when you are not playing that it should earn money. Does the XBOX have to be turned on? Maybe I misunderstood this completely? Thanks!

  4. I really enjoyed the original Fable, but for some reason I don’t have that urge to rush out and buy Fable II. I know I will be getting it eventually, but I am thinking of saving it for early next year, when this crazy fall game rush is over.

I’m almost done with Dead Space (highly recommended) and I just picked up Far Cry 2 yesterday. Thinking of putting Fallout 3 on hold as well (that game should take up alot of my time), so it will be LBP the following week, Gears 2 the week after that, then Mirror’s Edge, then Left 4 Dead . . . ARGH!!

  5. Hopefully someone can help with my issue…

This is early in the game. I have purchased the Blacksmith Shop in Bowerstone and two or three stalls in Oakfield. I turned off my 360 for the night and when I turned it back on none of them had earned a cent. I played for about 45 min this morning…the businesses then earned money every 5 minutes, but I didn’t see anything from the previous 8-10 hours where the 360 had been turned off.

Anybody have a clue what is missing here?

    Thanks again.

  6. I didn’t know that they were supposed to be earning money while your system was off. I thought that they only earned money while you were playing the game.

I’m a 4 star blacksmith, and 4 star wood cutter at this point. As I was playing the little mini-games, all I could think was.. “I can’t believe I’m wasting this much time on these mini-games” and then I kept playing them.

I really need to work on buying a business or two. I needto keep the money rolling in to keep my wife happy.

  7. I made 5 star blacksmith just so I could make enough cash to buy the Blacksmith in Bowerstone..

Your business definitely do make money b\c I posted the same question on the IGN boards and people are confirming they do make money even when the machine is off.

  8. I was debating getting to 5 star as a blacksmith. I just couldn’t imagine doing the mini-game for the next 20 minutes to complete it. The woodcutting one was so much easier to tolerate.

  9. OK, the combat has really gotten difficult. You have to face waves and waves of enemies.

I chose almost all Skill (gun) and it’s much improved from the first Fable, where ranged weaponry was almost pointless.
