Madden 10 – Whoa

As a GameStop preorder-er I was able to download the Madden Demo with 5 minute quarters.

Folks, if this demo turns out to be anything like the final product, we are all in for a treat.

The intros and cinematics are amazing; the graphics phonomenal; the gameplay is great as well.

Remember in an interview how the Madden team said that you weren’t going to drop back all day and that it would be more like real football? It is. It is amazingly fast. You still have time to make your passes, but you are not going to sit around for long.

I love how the referees confer about TDs and so forth. I did lose my game 20-14, but I was impressed. And best of all, no annoying play by play!

  1. I’ve only tried the 1 minute demo on the marketplace. I liked what I saw, but man, why even release a demo with only 1 minute quarters?! It is a terrible way to show off your game and all the improvements, since you are basically locked into a two-minute drill the entire time.

Instead of me enjoying the small details, new cut-scenes, or trying to explore the improved blocking, I’m scrambling to get the next pass play off because the freakin’ half is about to end. So annoying!

  2. Wow. I may have to buy Madden when it comes out.

You guys haven’t said too much about NCAA, unfortunately. I’m guessing you weren’t similarly impressed? Do I foresee a podcast after Madden releases?

  3. I’m hoping to put in more time on NCAA later tonight. To be honest, I was enjoying the ‘Road to Glory’ mode (except for the forced Erin Andrews parts… it’s just not important to me to have her giving little reports about my player.)

I’m hoping that Dan and I can do a podcast again very soon. Our schedules just don’t seem to jive.

I might even consider doing some short solo podcasts just to talk about what I’ve been playing and what’s going on there.
