Madden NFL 10 Demo Out
I was able to redeem my NFL 10 Demo code this morning. Glad I ordered at GameStop…1.0GB download, 5 minute quarters.
Will have thoughts after work.
Wednesday notes
- Spyware, cabling, and server building... Fun, fun, fun.
Quite a busy week thus far. Not a bit of time for gaming to this point. Hoping to be home early enough tomorrow night to have some time for NCAA and PYS6 though.
- It's amazing that you make one incredible trade last year and everyone now seems to expect that the Brewers would throw everything at Cleveland or Toronto to acquire front line pitching.
Personally, I don't think the team needs just one starter at this point. They need a lot of things at the moment and it's hard to really know what it would take. They are only 3 games out at this point... but they're not playing like a team that is that close. They just lost 4 of 6 to the two worst teams in the division and are facing an Atlanta team that is playing great ball over the weekend...
The only thing I can say is that I'm glad that I'm not a Pirates fan... that team isn't going ANYWHERE... man... anytime one of their players starts playing decently, they deal them. That would drive me insane...
- Damn... Dan just reminded me of The Bigs 2. Another game that I need to play more of. Grrr.
- I saw the video of Lebron getting "dunked on." Hell... that was nothing. I have no idea why Nike would have blocked that video from being released. The way it sounded before this, it was like someone crushed the ball into his head on the dunk. Nothing even close to that....
Windows 7 has RTM
Windows 7 has officially been released to manufacturing. If you haven’t tried it, you’re in for a treat. Glad I preordered at $49.99 for Home Premium!
Madden Notes
1. Just got a call from Gamestop letting me know my Madden 10 preorder will be available for download by Thursday at 9PM Eastern time. Looking forward to it.
2. Speaking of Madden, how about that TJ Houz;lkfjapliuotipudeh boycotting Madden because he feels his ratings are too low. Whatever.
NHL 10 ‘Be A GM’ video
Gametrailers has posted a video about the additions that have been made to the GM mode of NHL 10.
I really like the look of the draft day section thus far. One of the things that I saw this year was how many trades were made in the actual NHL draft process (including a ton by the Islanders... I can only hope that they work out.)
My hope is that they put a bit more into the "Goalie mode" for this year. I still feel that they're not doing a great job of simulating what it's like to actually be between the pipes.... but I think the reason for that is that no one really wants to get hit in the head with a 90+ mile an hour slap shot... except for idiots like me.
Monday notes
- Quite the pleasant surprise, but when I came home yesterday PYS6 was waiting for me on the counter. I had a chance to play through a single game of the WBC with the US defeating Canada, 5-1. I managed to hit 4 solo homers in the game... so the US team does have a ton of pop.
The other thing that was entertaining to me was the fact that I got two trophies the second that the game started. If you've have a game save for the previous years game, you automatically get 300,000 VP's that can be used to unlock various things in the game. The funny thing is that they give you a trophy for 100K VP's and 200K VP's.... so, right away... 2 quick trophies.
- Haven't had any more time for NCAA Football 10 yet, but I think I've heard enough about Erin Andrews for the day... haven't you?
- I had a Budweiser on Saturday... I now know why I hadn't had one in the last 15 years. Ugh.
- Was there a person out there that wasn't cheering for Tom Watson? I felt bad for Stuart Cink. Not a single person on that course was cheering for him to win.
Free NCAA 10 Rosters
Don’t forget that FKrosters.com is NOT the original Fairdale Kings..instead it’s some guy that bought that site, PSXSports and gamerosters.com to create what is by far the worst audioanimatronic voice over I’ve ever heard.
For those that think $14 is too much to pay for a roster update, freecollegerosters.com will get you covered. However, the new rosters aren’t up there yet. Keep checking and I will keep you posted when I see them as well.
Friday notes
- Thank you NCSX! Pro Yakyuu Spirits 6 shipped yesterday. I'm hopeful that it'll be sitting in my mailbox when I get back from my trip up north for the weekend... but even if it gets there on Monday... that'll work out nicely.
I really hope that I can put forth some serious time into the game this year. I really enjoy the gameplay of that series so much more than any other baseball game... so I'm going to try and write up a few more pages on it.
If you're interested in seeing a ton of videos for the game. Someone has posted a bunch on Youtube.
- I've been debating picking up some movies over at Deepdiscount, now that they're running their 25% off sale. The tough thing is finding the ones that are actually good deals at the moment. Some of them just about match up with Amazon pricing after the discount... hmm....
- There was a moment in the Brewers game last night that was just hillarious. Brewers were up 9-3, and Seth McClung gave up a 3-run homer in the 8th. Coffey was warming up in the bullpen incredibly quickly because they wanted McClung out of there. Macha was just starting to walk out onto the field and McClung started to pitch again to make sure he wouldn't get pulled. It was awesome. Macha was just staring out at him... really ticked off.
Don't think I've ever seen a pitcher do that to keep a manager in the dugout. Thankfully, he got that guy out... but was pulled right after it. Macha looked like he was going to run out of the dugout to make sure he didn't let him stay out there any longer.
Very entertaining stuff.
- I might post again from the road... but if not. Have a good weekend.

First NCAA 10 thoughts
- I played on quick play game, Wisconsin vs. Minnesota and saw 1 fumble returned for a TD as well as a pick-6. I've heard that this is an issue that people have seen quite a bit of... but that's just what I saw in my first game.
- After that, I started up a Road to Glory career and saw some real issues with pursuit angles... but I'm hoping that's just a case of the competition that they set before you in the high school mode (although this did continue in my first game in college as well.)
- My career started out as a Madison RB, and after winning the state title and becoming a 5-star recruit, I chose to go to Iowa, due to the fact that I could start right away there.
- One thing I have never liked about this 'superstar' mode of the game is that you have to choose whether you want to study each day or work out. As if the student athletes just choose to do one thing a day. It just seems like such a silly way to make a player progress throughout college.
- I'll probably be in the minority for saying this, but too much Erin Andrews. It's hard to fathom that an entire segment of the game is dedicated to video clips with her talking about a generic player. A pretty sad statement for the future of the franchise if that's where things are heading.
- After my first one "regular" game and 5 RTG games... I have seen 3 penalties. Two false starts and, a legit, facemask call.
- The game seems to need a lot of tweaking out of the box. It's entertaining enough for me, but I think the people who are looking for a great college sim, will need to adjust it quite a bit.
- I've seen a few slowdowns and hiccups in gameplay as well. I'm playing the PS3 version, not sure what difference that will make.
- I'll try to play it a bit more on Sunday night.
- Thoughts from the rest of you?
Quick Thursday notes
- Had to run home today and found that NCAA 10 had been delivered, so I'll give that a look later tonight (promise.)
- Fell asleep at 7:45 last night, so I didn't get any time in on the Bigs 2. I'll try to work on that tonight as well.
- Looks like I'll have to try out the Headblade for shaving. I'm curious as to how their shaving cream differs from what I've been using... so I may hold out on that part.
- Back to work...
NCAA
I’m getting the hint not to bother. I did receive my Amazon package today but the disc had become dislodged and scratched, making the game very hard to play.
I did find out one thing though – the generic rosters are bad..EA realized this and you can download an updated (non-name) roster set by downloading EASCNCAA10 from the EA Locker.
Game..so far, it is coming across as a lot of the same. Seriously they couldn’t have Corso record a few more lines. If he says “AARP says…” one more time. It’s only been what, three years? Jesus.
Game itself – I played BC vs ND, lost 28-21, 3 INTs, 1 run back for a TD. Feels like a game I’ve already played – no wow factor here. It’s not horrid, but I’m not jumping up and down either.
Of course, with my disc beat up, I can’t play a whole lot – I don’t know how much of the stuttering is the disc and how much is the actual game.
Amazon will get me a new one – their customer service is very good, but it is still a pain.
PS No Fairdale Kings rosters yet….
More Wednesday Notes
- Well, no copy of NCAA Football... but I did get my copy of The Bigs 2. Just about to fire that up... if the kids will leave me alone long enough to give it a play.
- Shaving your head bald, every day, is a lot of work... but when your daughter is drawing pictures of you with hair only on the side of your head... it's a nice hint from them.
- Ok. The Slap Chop song is pretty damn funny.
Wednesday notes
- I'm holding out hope that I get my copy of NCAA from Gamefly today... but I'm not holding my breath. The impressions for the game have been ranging from glowing to frustrating... so I'm anxious to get my hands on it to take a look.
- The All Star game last night was a quality affair. It was nice to see a game end in less than 4 hours.
- Wow is today a slow news day. It seems like every year, people forget that there are no sports on the day after the All Star game... but when the talk shows are covering Richard Jefferson bailing on his wedding... you know there is NOTHING going on.
