Whoa

I’m watching the Patriots – Bengals game and just saw Chad Ochocinco kick an extra point. Can you believe it….

  1. Because the preseason is virtually useless (with the last few roster spots the exception), I can believe it. That, and the fact that Ochocinco is a total whore for attention.

What is it with receivers that they become divas? It is nice when a great receiver is a team player (thank you Andre Johnson, and before the gun incident – Marvin Harrison!!!!).

Just curious, what do you guys think about the Plaxico Burress plea?

  2. I would say that he committed a crime that was well known that you shouldn’t do in New York. Supposedly they’ve been incredibly harsh on gun laws there and he got the time he should have for what he did.

Things like that should be a wake up call for the players. Have a body guard… don’t carry a gun to defend yourself.

  3. I totally agree on the Plax case. I really was wondering because I have heard people on sports radio making the case for Plax getting off with a much lighter sentence (1 month jail, and probation). Personally, I am sick and tired of the rich and famous getting light sentences (hello, Dante Stallworth, etc.).

He did the crime, he should do the time.

And for anyone who thinks otherwise – Plax is going to serve 20 months for a crime that carries a 3.5 years MINIMUM sentence. That sentence is light, if anything.

  4. It seems like, in this case, he got the same sort of punishment that anyone would have gotten for the crime… which is very rare.

The sad fact of the matter is that DUI’s like Leonard Little and Donte Stallworth get so much less time… which is sad, because their crimes were so much worse, even if they were just a bad lapse in judgement for a day.

Again, it’s another situation that they shouldn’t even put themselves into as professional athletes. You’ve just been out drinking with your buddies… take a cab for craps sake.

I guess that’s good advice for everyone who has a drink though.

  5. I think you’re being unfair to Stallworth. In his case he got a lighter sentence because there was video evidence proving that the guy ran out in front of him and that the no-one could possibly have avoided the accident.

In fact I would say he was treated more harshly because of his public status. Yes, he committed DUI but there was no way any jury would ever have convicted him of manslaughter.

  6. But he was still drunk, correct?

Little’s case, I know was a much worse one. He got a very light sentence and 4 games off after he killed someone as well.
