Big Ten Saturday notes

- You could hear a collective, "WHEW!" from the Big Ten offices today.

Iowa blocks a field goal to hold off Northern Iowa.

Ohio State picks off a 2 point conversion attempt that could have tied the game and holds off Navy at home.

Minnesota kicks a field goal to send their game against Syracuse into OT (and goes on to win it in OT.)

Quite a tense day for the Big Ten, but they end up starting off the season well.

  1. Unrelated, but thought you might be interested in this:

Background: in 2004 Eidos stole (legally :( ) the Championship Manager name from Sports Interactive. Championship Manager was produced almost every year since 1992, and as a sports franchise it’s sales were rivaled only by Madden. Predictably without the original developers things went quickly south, and last year for the first time in many years there was no new version.

In the mean time SI has continued on with their new publisher Sega, releasing their game as Football Manager (Worldwide Soccer Manager in the US) to great success.

So now, to try to salvage the series, Eidos is offering Pay What You Want. Basically you can pay as little as $4 for the game, with details at the link above.

  2. Thanks for mentioning this.

I saw this a few weeks ago and it slipped my mind to post about it. I was hoping Dan would take a look at it as he’s more of the futbol fan.
