Sunday night notes

- Well, if today's game was any indication, the Packers still need a lot of work.  Their first three drives ended with FG's (two drives stalled in the red zone.)  The defense looked lethargic at times (can someone tell me why Desmond Bishop isn't on the field more.)

Ugh... it'll be a fascinating week leading up to the Vikings game, but even if they lose, I think the team can keep improving and get better, but they certainly don' t look like the team that the pundits were picking at the beginning of the season.

- NFL Sunday wrapup...

The Giants look very good.  The Jets look very good.  The Saints look very good.  The Vikings look very good.

The Browns look awful.  The Steelers are no where near as good as last year.

The Bengals... continue to surprise.  One badly tipped pass away from being 3-0.  Marvin Lewis deserves a good year.  Hopefully he gets it.

- I've started the prep work for our next interview, which will happen later this week.  It's a new game and from my early impressions, it'll be worth your time.

- Two Wii sports titles come out this week.  Baseball Blast from 2K Sports and Family Fun Football from Tecmo.  I'm very curious about both, as I'm always looking for more fun games to play with friends.  Baseball Blast has Bob Uecker doing play-by-play.... how can you not want to hear that in a video game?

Family Fun Football is the evolution of Tecmo Bowl that was being developed for the Wii and for the $19.99 price point, it might be worth a gander... even if it does look more like a kids title.

- Best Buy has Need for Speed Shift for $39.99 this week for all platforms.  If you pick up the pre-order kit for Uncharted 2 at the same time, you'll get $5 off Need for Speed (and get the pre-order for free.)  (There is a free gold weapon code in the Uncharted package.)

- I'm really debating the NHL Center Ice package this year... I really want to see how the Isles do with Tavares... and since DirecTV dropped Versus, this will be the only way to get some hockey...

- I got freakin' crushed in Fantasy this week.  Ugh.

- The Madden league will start up this week.  6 of the 8 owners have signed up already.  Hopefully we can get going this week.  Should be a ton of fun.  My Rams, are going to get crushed, but it'll be fun either way.

  1. No love for the Ravens??? Finally an offense to team up with that defense!

  2. My bad. I haven’t seen a minute of any of their games.

  3. I read on the JS website that the reason Bishop is not a starter or at least on a rotation with someone is because the other guys are either high draft picks or significant FA pickup. (at least as far as the packers go when signing FA’s.) So it is office politics, just with a twist. I think it is stupid because even though he might not have a high AWR rating he is the most energetic player on the field. I say trade Barnett or Hawk and get him in.

  4. He might make some mistakes, but you just watch the guy and he is constantly flying to the ball. Of course, you don’t see him on TV when he makes mistakes in coverages or anything… but it’s hard to imagine him taking the LB play down a notch when he’s in. (Because it isn’t all that great right now, no matter who’s on the field.)

  5. Did the Vikings play this weekend? How did that game end? I haven’t read the internets today.

  6. Since you don’t read the internets, you wouldn’t have seen that I said that they looked very good.

  7. I don’t care about the Vikings. But were there any interesting happenings with their QB?

  8. What does it matter if I don’t? You won’t see a single post about that player again for the simple reason that all it does is create a pointless discussion that rehashes things over and over again.

If you’ve come looking for an argument, you’ve come to the wrong place.

  9. Unlike the Packers you’re very defensive.

  10. Cute.

I’m not being defensive, just deflecting a pointless conversation that I’m tired of having that you seem to want to keep having… for whatever reason.

  11. You ASSume that I want to keep having a certain pointless conversation. The topic of a certain Viking QB (possibly John David Booty) can be discussed without any mentioning of a certain Packers GM (possibly Ron Wolfe). You’ll never know until you try.

I do have to admit that seeing John David Booty make that throw yesterday really got me excited. But then I had to take a step back and realize that it’s the friggin’ (or “f#%@ing” if you watch SNL) Vikings. So the joke’s on me.
