The Blog for the Sports Gamer Three guys who love Sports Gaming rant and rave about various stuff.

Monday morning notes

- I love the Center Ice package.  Recording the Islanders game that will start in a few hours and will be able to watch it when I get home.  The nice thing about the lack of popularity in the NHL is that I can record games and not have to worry about sports radio broadcasts giving out the score updates and spoiling the game for you.

Tavares does look like he's going to be a great player though.  3 games in and he has 5 points and has been very active in the offensive and defensive zone.  I can only see him getting better as time goes on.

- I'm really wavering on the Toys R Us buy 2 get 1 free deal for this week.  I really want Uncharted 2, but I can't sell myself on the other titles that I would like to get.  The president of the company that I work for wants me to have Beatles Rock Band for the company holiday party... but I just have a hard time telling myself that I'll get a full value enjoyment out of that game.

I've debated picking up Brutal Legend with Uncharted... and I would love to get Demon's Souls... but no stores in the city have it... other than Gamestop which is just too bad.  Oh, well.

- The Packers signed Mark Tauscher today which makes me wonder if that was their plan all along.  Hold the fort until he was ready to come back and that slide him into the starting lineup and try and get the line straightened out at that point.  Who knows?  The line is still a real weakness for the team and needs to get corrected if they're going to be a playoff team.  Thankfully the Lions are on the docket for this week.

- Badger hockey season starts up this week.   Can't wait for that.  Taking the girls to the game on Saturday night.  Nothing says fun like trying to manage a 2 and 4 year old by yourself at a sporting event.

- Gotta try and get some more time into NBA Live 10 and NBA 2K10 tonight.  We'll see how that goes...

  1. It’s unfortunate that Toys R Us is not carrying Demon’s Souls. The game is fantastic. I’ve been hooked since starting it a few days ago. So much so that I’ll probably pick up Uncharted 2 today, but I don’t know if I am going to be playing it.

  2. I’m holding out hope for Best Buy getting some copies this week so I can just price match the deal there. I know the game is going to be brutally hard, but that sounds right for me at the moment.

  3. I got my copy at my local Best Buy this past Saturday. There were no copies on the floor, but I looked on bestbuy.com from my iPhone and it said they had copies. I asked an employee and he grabbed me a copy from the back. He told me they only received a few copies and they kept them in the back since some of the employees wanted them.

  4. Yeah, I stopped in yesterday and they didn’t have any. Their site lists that they still don’t and the guy yesterday wouldn’t look it up in the system.

    Yay for customer service!

  5. I’d pass on the Beatles Rock Band.

My GF and I really enjoy the Rock Band games and she’s a large Beatles fan so I picked it up for us. It’s not very challenging (which can be good or bad, depending on where you’re coming from) but most damning is really the lack of replay value. You can crank through the game pretty quickly and then all you’re left with is doing the challenges (which are just the set lists of every venue.) With no DLC currently available it isn’t worth the price tag,

  6. Thanks for the feedback on that. That’s kind of what I was thinking for the game…

I know the presentation might be great, but I just don’t see it as a full price title. I’ll probably grab it at some point next year when it’s in the $20 or $30 range.
