The Blog for the Sports Gamer Three guys who love Sports Gaming rant and rave about various stuff.

Thursday morning notes

- Gotta like how the Brewers are playing right now.  After starting 0-4, they have won 6 of their last 7.   Tonight, Marcum pitches 7 strong innings of shutout baseball, Prince hits a big 3-run homer, and Tony Plush... well... he does this.

Once they get Greinke and Corey Hart back, this team could be pretty dang good.  Gotta love April optimism in baseball.

- In other good news, Eutechnyx is really impressing me with the work they are putting in for the Nascar 2011 patch.  If you take a look over at their forums, you can see that they have most of the issues that have been reported resolved.  Hopefully the patch will be out in a few weeks.  The game really needs some of the things that they are fixing, but if they get it right, it should be a damn impressive racing game.

- I played a bit more Top Spin 4 last night and ran into an annoyance.  At the end of my 3rd season in the game, I was qualified for Master tournaments and finished in the top 8 rankings.  When you do that, you get invited to the ATP Championship event at the end of the year.  Throughout all of the Master tournaments (not Grand Slam events) I destroyed all of the competition... whether it was Nadal or Federer or anyone else... I whupped them up good.

The way that the Championship is configured, you have 3 matches that you have to play against players that are in your bracket.  I beat all 3 guys without any issues, winning both sets in all 3 matches (3-0 and 3-0.)

I make it to the semi-finals and face off against Federer and all of a sudden he's a stud.  He's hitting every line, crushing every serve and he beats me in a 3 set tiebreak... but the match wasn't really all that close.

What bothers me about it is the fact that the game had the difficulty ramped way the hell down all the way until this one match.  If you want to ramp up the difficulty slowly so that you get prepared for a big final match, that's fine... but if you  turn the difficulty level from 0 to 11 in one match... that's annoying as hell.

I guess I'll see how the Grand Slam events go in this season, but I am pretty annoyed about how the difficulty has been handled to this point.
