Thursday notes
- Just to sum it up quickly. Nyjer should have walked back to the dugout quicker (but let's be clear... he was walking toward the dugout) and Pujols shouldn't have escalated the event by trying to run at Morgan. Still have no idea why Morgan was tossed, but not Pujols. It was a nothing incident until Albert made it one.
Still, the Brewers have an 8 1/2 game lead and head into a big playoff preview series with the Phillies tonight. I was planning on taking some pictures at the game... but I forgot my camera because of the fact that my daughter overslept and caused the morning to be a good deal more hectic than I wanted it to be. Oh, well.
- I'm really trying hard to like NCAA Football 12 right now. I'm going into the 5th game of my online dynasty with Utah State and I've already had three game lockups and have had numerous issues with the online recruiting page logging me out or not allowing me to add a certain player to my list of players that I am attempting to recruit.
Still, I've had some fun games that are derailed from time to time due to the superhuman linebackers that seem to always know exactly when to jump 4 feet into the air to knock down a pass to a wide open receiver, but that's to be expected.
I really, desperately, want to keep playing the game though, as I'm really starting to like a few of my players. We'll see if I can stick with it despite the game issues though.
- My thoughts go out to all of the family and friends of the hockey players that lost their lives in the plane crash in Russia earlier this week. It's absolutely amazing how few times incidents like this happen with sporting teams traveling as much as they do, but it doesn't make them any less horrible events when they do happen.
- I'm efforting an NHL 12 interview with one of their developers before the game is released next week, but it may not work out scheduling wise. Here's hoping that it can all come together though.
- Lastly, NFL Rivals launches today on the iPod Touch, iPhone, and iPad. What is NFL Rivals? Well, it's Backbreaker with an NFL license on mobile devices.
So, sad that we couldn't get the console version updated with an NFL license...
- Have a great day everyone.

“Pujols shouldn’t have escalated the event by trying to run at Morgan. Still have no idea why Morgan was tossed, but not Pujols…”
Seriously???? Morgan started the whole event, by:
1. Cursing out Carpenter and
2. Throwing his tobacco at him.
AFTER those two events, Pujols started charging in to defend his teammate, AND AFTER the game, both Carpenter and Pujols complimented Morgan for being a great player. Pujols even said he wouldn’t mind Morgan being on his team in the future.
Morgan was clearly at fault, were you even watching the same game?
Oh and BTW, the race isn’t over yet, so your series with the Phillies, NOT a playoff preview. In fact, better hope you don’t see the Phillies til potentially the 2nd round.

Color me shocked, Cards can do no wrong and the Brewers will collapse.
Yeah, players never swear at each other.
Pujols was running at Morgan before he ever did anything with his dip. St. Albert the perfect should have been tossed. He made the benches clear with his actions.
September 8th, 2011 - 20:55
All Albert was doing was being a good teammate, and he was also respectful of your team AFTER the game.
Nyjer Morgan’s swearing after being struck out started the chain of events. Throwing chaw is childish also. I would hope Prince Fielder would charge if Jon Jay was swearing at your pitcher and throwing tobacco.
Oh and don’t deny you’re looking at Albert for Brewer first baseman if Fielder walks.

Oh yeah and about videogames, The NCAA patch due out tomorrow for 360 hopefully will stop the leaping LB’s, and the video I saw for Rivals compares more to Backbreaker Vengance than the original. I don’t think you can play actual games.

Morgan is a punk. He’s been on three teams in three years for a reason. He doesn’t play hard (last year’s incident in the OF a perfect example.)
And he screams doing everything. EVERYTHING. Screams when he gets a hit, steals a base, etc.
As Wilbon said, if he dishes, he should be able to take it.
He won’t be a Brewer next year. He’s toxic.
September 9th, 2011 - 09:01
I have a very hard time believing that the NCAA patch will stop the leaping LB’s. Nothing will stop the leaping LB’s short of gameplay redesign.
I’m tired of trying to talk to people about Morgan. He’s a like him or hate him player. Let’s just leave it at that. It was a nothing incident on a nothing happening sports day and people made way too much of it.
Oh and I wouldn’t want Pujols to play for the Brewers. Having $25 to $30 million a year dedicated to one player would absolutely destroy the payroll for this team for the next decade.
September 9th, 2011 - 14:56
You don’t want to destroy the payroll of the Brewers?
Then I got bad news for you…You won’t be keeping Fielder either:
http://www.metsblog.com/2011/08/26/prince-fielder-will-be-seeking-a-200m-contract/
According to the Mark Viera of the New York Times, Prince Fielder will be seeking a $200 million contract this winter when he is a free agent.
Even at a 10 year contract…uh that’s $20 MIL!
September 9th, 2011 - 15:04
And that is a reason I don’t want Fielder is back as well.
Along with the fact that he is a below average defensive player.
Save 20 million a year and spend that on 2 or 3 players or put that money towards keeping Marcum and Greinke.

You sound like a Red Sox fan defending Carl Everett.
